Coldplay Atlanta Concert Review

I know I'm a bit late with this one but thanks to reminder from someone here is my Coldplay Atlanta concert review

My review:

Tales From the Middle of Section 7: Row B Seat 6

Well, I started my Coldplay Atlanta journey back in December when I bought 40 dollar seats for Section 410. But quickly after getting some money I traded up to Section 7. 7 Months past and the day came, July 2nd, 2012. After beginning to get to the arena early we dad finally gave in and we arrived at 5:15. After a quick dinner of Wendy's in the food court we headed into the arena. I purchased only a tour program since I had bought a shirt online. I made my way to my seat and started the long wait. With no really music going on I just sat there and took it all in. Now for the opening acts:

Wolf Gang: What can I say, they were amazing. When they announced they were coming out to meet the fans, but after 15 minutes waiting in a blob of people that never moved, we headed back to our seats, which was a mistake. Definitely buying their new album later this week

Robyn: Again, what can I say, worst thing ever. All of her songs bored me and I couldn't understand a word. and btw a TERRIBLE cover of Teardrop

Once 99 Problems started, it was on. Everyone around me, including myself, got excited and stood up. Now I love that song but it felt like it lasted ages. Then came the Back to the Future theme and well, I'll some up the show by each song.
9:05-9:10
MX/Hurts Like Heaven: an amazing opening song as usual. After seeing the Xylobands at work on videos I thought I knew what was coming but I was very, very.......VERY wrong. Probably the greatest thing at a concert ever. Back to the song. It's on of my favorites from MX and it's even better live. An epic song that will be played for years to come.

In My Place: A timeless classic. The way Will pounds those drums really gets you in the mood. This is also the first song of the night where the "casual fans" sing a long. The confetti is amazing too, but distracted me too much. Should of waited for the end of the show to get all my confetti.

Major Minus: Actually one of my least favorites from MX but wow can it rock live. to sum up this song: Everyone put there hands up and Coldplay rocked out

Lovers in Japan: One of my favorite songs period. I was devistated last year when this song wasn't being played so once I saw that it was played earlier this year I was very excited.

The Scientist: By far the best sing-along of the night. Everybody singing along was louder than the band playing the song. A song that should never ever leave a Coldplay set.

Yellow: My first favorite Coldplay song will always have a special place in my heart. A most epic performance starting off with a Chris solo at the piano leading into a BANG of the full band. Again one of the louder crowd responses of the night.

Violet Hill: A lot of people out there who don't like Coldplay say that all they do is play soft slow ballads. Well if you want to prove them wrong look no further than this song. Amazing guitar playing from Mr. Buckland leads the way.

God Put a Smile Upon Your Face: The best segues of the night from Violet Hill to GPASUYF. Another great rocking tune with a highlight of the guitar battle of Chris and Jonny. With the epic conclusion of Chris throwing his guitar in the air.

Princess of China: No surprise that it wasn't one of my favorite songs of the night but that being said it was still an amazing song live. The video of Rihanna seemed off a bit at times but I was surprised how well the crowd responded.

Up in Flames: My least favorite song on MX, but a bit better live. A nice slow song that could be a good sing a long if it was more popular.

Warning Sign: Top 3 song of the night. Amazing that they brought this song back for the shows. And a plus that there were no screw up's tonight.

Don't Let It Break Your Heart: One of my favorites from MX and so thrilled that this song has made it into the live set. A great thumping beat that you can really feel throughout your body. Chris and the boys really seem to enjoy this one too.

Viva La Vida: What do you think I'm gonna say. Nobody in the arena moved or made a sound? OF COURSE NOT. As probably the band's most famous song this of course it got the best crowd reaction. Not one of my top songs but I love and it's amazing live.

Charlie Brown: My favorite Coldplay song. period. AMAZING live. The only song where I jumped. Not my fault, those seats where so damn close I couldn't jump freely, but I had to force myself to take a risk just for this song. Best moment of the night was putting my fist up with everybody at the end. Felt like part of a Coldplay Cult :D

Paradise: Another great popular song. Another great sing-along. See what I did there. The new Viva chant. Amazing moment a the end. Too bad Chris screwed up in the beginning.

Now everyone is waiting for Coldplay to come back to the stage, I, a vivid seatlist watcher, turn my head to where I noticed the C-Stage was before the show.

Us Against the World: Amazing. Didn't get to hear this one at Music Midtown because of the R.E.M. tribute and really missed this one.

Speed of Sound: With X&Y being my second favorite album from Coldplay, I'm usually heartbroken where I see the lack of songs from it in the set. But I was very happy when I saw this was being played. A great song and even got it on video.

Now Coldplay rush back to the main stage witin feet of me. A highlight of the night.

Clocks : Another classic song that is just killer live. Amazing light show included.

Fix You: One of the band's greatest song live. Started of with a tribute the great state of Georgia with Georgia on My Mind. Always epic live with a burst of energy from everone in the band, especially Chris

Every Teardrop is a Waterfall: A great ending to an amazing night. Usually slacked, this song is killer live and is full of energy from everyone including the audience.

Now that I'm done with that I can share some notes from the show

Audience: A lot of adults around me which surprised me a lot. The guy to the left of me was fantastic. We kept making fun of Robyn together and I answered about the band since he was only a casual fan. It also seems that every concert I go to there is a giant in front of me. This day last year at U2 there was the Not leprechaun and this year it was the Iron Giant. THe worst part was that he was right in front of the piano for my view :(

Miscellaneous: Robyn sucks. sorry just had to say it again. devastated that I once again didn't touch a balloon. What's will all the balloons running to the stage in seconds??? Happy with the lack screw-ups. OMG CHRIS AND A COWBOY HAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and how come they don't sell drinks after the show. Could get some major $$$$$$$

Pictures - I'm really mad about this. Our camera freaked out and only started to take fuzzy pictures. I took some with my Iphone but it didn't do justice. The band looked so far away in the vids and pics but my seats were amazing. If you want to see some decent pictues check my twitter. lol

Videos: again no justice. stupid phone
Speed of Sound: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Hwx3KnObRk

Walk by after C-Stage: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=60GMzpspZn4&feature=plcp

Amazing night, in fact one of the best ever. Coldplay will go down as one of the greatest bands of all time. Not just in our minds, cause in there they already

Radiohead

Let me start this off by saying. I HATE RADIOHEAD. so if you're a fan and would not like to see negative comments about the band you can stop now.

I don't know what it is, their weirdness, *most of* their fans, or the negative feeling I get when I've heard their songs. I promise you I have tried listening to them but all I have seen is slow, boring, depressing music. The first song I heard from the band was "Creep". Sure, the music is nice but after trying to make out some of the lyrics I looked them up and saw the general idea. Now people can slander me because I like more upbeat/happier music ex. Mylo Xyloto, Coldplay's last album which is my favorite from them. I just hate down, depressing music. Sure I feel bad sometimes, but that's when I listen to more happier music because I don't want to stay down. But if it is a "slower song" I try to make it a song about getting over things. Take for example U2's song "Kite", it is about his father and moving on from relationships. Which is what I tend to do, move on and forget about the past and not stay down being negative.

The other song I remember really hearing from Radiohead was "Fake Plastic Trees". I really don't remember much about this one only that it put me to sleep. I saw the video once on TV and it didn't get my attention.

I've listened to a handful of songs from Radiohead but those are really the only two I can remember.

Thanks to those who got through this short kinda rant about Radiohead so as a present here is one of my favorite performances of "Kite".

Right Now #5: The Killers

this will probably be my last Right Now for a while but here we go.

I'll start off by saying I love me some Vegas-rockers, also known as The Killers. These guys have been in my life since 2010 when I barely missed seeing them live here in Atlanta. But I'm ultra excited to see them on their upcoming tour........whenever they release some tour dates. Today I'll just talk about their new material from the Battle Born era and what I think of it/expecting.

first here are my rankings for the new songs that have been played

1. Runaways
2. Flesh and Bone
3. Miss Atomic Bomb
4. The Rising Tide
5. From Here On Out

1. Runaways - the first single from the album that now has a fantastic video to go with it. Fantastic song that just makes you excited when you hear it. The song has also sneaked it's way into my top 5 songs from the band and will probably just keep rising when the album comes out. My favorite of the song is definitely the chorus.

2. Flesh and Bone - it's hard to judge a song from live videos taking off a phone or camera but I can already tell this song will be an epic. I especially love Brandon's voice throughout the song, which isn't unusual. My favorite part of the song is the lyric "What are you afraid of? and what are you made of? FLESH AND BONE"

3. Miss Atomic Bomb - Do you remember Mr. Brightside. Well, supposedly this is the girl who broke his heart. I can't tell who's point of view it's from but this song is a great one. My favorite part has to be the lyric "Miss Atomic Bomb, making out we got the radio on. you're gonna miss me when I'm gone"

4. The Rising Tide - this song has been around since last year and I've loved it since I first heard it. I would really love to hear this one on Battle Born but last I heard it's on the border. Can't tell my favorite part yet because I really haven't heard it on the best quality.

5. From Here On Out - this is the one song I'm not thrilled about. I don't know what it is, the length? the beat? it just hasn't hit yet. Can't tell my favorite part yet but it looks like this one will be on Battle Born.

I'll end the post with a few pics

Right Now #4: Muse

Now I have to thank U2 for introducing me to this band. Before the show in Atlanta in 2009 where Muse opened for U2 I had never heard of the boys from the UK. Muse's big anthems and over the top music is what sold them for me. They remind me of a modern day Queen and their Olympic anthem show it. I don't believe they are quite at that level yet but they have a good chance to in the future.

As most Muse fans know they have pretty much have finished up the new album, The 2nd Law, and had scheduled to release it September 18th in the States. But with an announcement yesterday they have delayed the album with a release date of October 1st. Most likely because The Killers album was coming out that same week and the first of the three Green Day album's coming out the next week. I'm fine about the waiting actually. I think if the album came out the same week as the Killers new one, Battle Born, I wouldn't have listened to the Muse album as much because I would be trying to split my time between the albums.

But getting back to the new album I will spit my thoughts on the song Survival. Now Survival is tricky because I do not believe it would have been the first single or maybe not a single at all if the album came out before the Olympics. A lot of reviews have put the song down for having very simple, repetitive lyrics about

but what can you expect about a song written by the band for the London Olympics. You just have to sit back and appreciate this Queen-like anthem. Now the first single, Madness, is set to be released Monday August 20th and should be another great song from the band.

Another interesting thing is that the album includes two songs written by the band's bassist, Chris Wolstenholme, has written two songs about his issues with alcohol that are called Save Me and Liquid State. The cool thing is that he actually sings on these tracks.

I myself am hoping to hear the Dubstep-esque song from the album trailer, Unsustainable. I'm not a big fan of Dubstep but what I heard from the trailer is fantastic. Dubstep from a real band instead of from a computer.....Skrillex.

The album is set to be another great one and also with another great Muse album cover. Apparently, the band was inspired a lot by Dubstep in making this album because they wanted their crowd to react like a crowd a Dustep concert and jump around and party. Which shows in their album cover. The cover is very interesting because it is a brain, but not what we think of. It is actually the nerve pathways in the brain.

this is what the image of the brain is :

but this is a smaller image with what it will look like with the right back round and logos

Right Now #3: Springsteen

I've only stumbled upon the work of The Boss the past year but I'm already obsessed. Saw him and the band in Atlanta in March and travelling up to New Jersey September to him possibly twice. I have General Admission tickets for the Saturday show and possibly am getting some for Friday. we'll see.

The Boss has just finished off an epic Summer European tour which he ended in Helsinki with a 4-hour show. Some other highlights include the epic almost 4 hour Oslo, Madrid and Milan shows. There has also been rare performances, guest performers and even plug-pulling. Hopefully these epics continue to the States.

There has also been some talk about another new album after the successful Wrecking Ball which came out earlier this year, but nothing has been set in stone or even talked about much. All I know is that it better be better than Working on a Dream.

Well that's all for tonight. I'm very tired and my hands hurt.

50 DAYS TIL JERSEY!!!!!

just kidding. The Jersey Shore sucks

Right Now #2: Coldplay

Not much to talk about right now involving Coldplay. They're nearing the end of the Mylo Xylotour *unless they add more dates* and seem to be enjoying it. I myself have seen the band twice, once last year at Music Midtown in Atlanta and one month ago in Atlanta. I myself cannot wait to see what they will be doing with this proposed DVD that is set to come out later this year. I've heard that they will combine the London concert at the Emirates Stadium that took place earlier this summer around the beginning of June and combine them into one DVD which will be fantastic. The band have also announced a fifth single from the album, Mylo Xyloto, Hurts like Heaven which is one of my favorite songs from the band. While Mylo Xyloto hasn't been a big commercial success the band where hoping for, it has quickly became my favorite album from them since last September. It seems like the album has gotten a lot of mixed review but leaning more towards the positive side, which is always a good thing.

hoping for more touring for the MX album, not only because it deserves, because I'd love to see them again!

Right Now #1: U2

to get things started I think I should talk about my favorite band, U2. They have been my favorite band for a few years now, starting in 2008. I've seen them twice; once in 2009 in Atlanta, GA and last year in Nashville, TN. Some of my favorites songs from the band are Bad, Out of Control, The Fly, Streets, and I should just stop there before I get distracted.

As all U2 fans know the band have just finished up the huge U2360 tour. They have now been on brake for over a year but it seems like a century. I myself get a little annoyed still seeing Bono on vacation.........and a bit jealous when seeing the girl he's hanging out with. But I'm still hoping that Bono and the boys have been hard at work this last year and are almost finished, or maybe even done, with a long awaited new album, their first since 2009's No Line on the Horizon. What I'm afraid of is what this record will sound like. Recently U2, mostly Bono, have seemed to be a bit disappointed with their place in music. Their golden years are likely behind and I don't think Bono has fully accepted it, which is fine with me. But the problem lies in the music the band might be making. If U2 are indeed searching for a Pop-radio hit, they probably aren't trying harder for another Joshua Tree or Achtung Baby which is what the fans really want. Seriously, would we want another Streets or a U2 "Call Me Maybe". I also don't want the rumored "Song of Ascent" album. What I'm really interested is the work they have been doing for a few years with Dangermouse, who has also worked with Gorillaz, The Black Keys and has also been a band, Gnarls Barkley, with Cee Lo Green. I really think U2 and Dangermouse might have produced something fantastic, but I'm a bit worried about what the band think. I believe we need U2 to have the mindset that they had in the 90's and stop worrying about the radio. If U2 can go to The Joshua Tree and Rattle and Hum to Achtung Baby than nothing is impossible for this band. Yes, they are older now but they also have more experience. They have been in the business long enough to realize what will have more impact in the years to come. Do they want a song like "Wonderwall" or a song like "Party Rock Anthem." No matter what U2 does I do not believe they will get the same crowd that artists like Nicki Minaj, Drake and Justin Bieber get. They need to realize what they do have and what they can get with their new music. Would it be nice to hear U2 on the radio all the time instead of the recent songs we have been getting. Sure, why not. What I am saying is that I hope U2 are not just aiming for a hit pop song instead of a 5 star album. I know whatever the band does will be great because they've been making great music for over 30 years. I just hope the band wall of all the negative comments about their music and the fact that they aren't on MTV anymore *but who would want to be alongside with Snooki and JWOWW*and focus on making a perfect album. I know I'll be there the first day to buy the CD and I know other U2 fans will too.

This is U2 I'm talking about. The band that brought us One, Sunday Bloody Sunday and Where the Streets Have No Name. I know they have more fight in them and I want them to bring it with the next album.
